well one of the reasons the allies didn't take berlin was to prevent hitler and his SS from escaping to an area where defense would be easy. Thus Dempseys 1st Army took Kiel to stop a retreat into Norway and Pattons 3rd Army secured southern Germany so there was to be no retreat to the alpine redoubt. If Hitler had reached it, then the task would of fallen to commandoes or SAS who were british, to take it out. So this unfortunatley rules out russian forces!!!
